If I were teaching this lesson to my class of kindergartners, I would start by showing them the Parts of a Story page in this Wiki, using our classroom SmartBoard. After, questioning and introducing that page, I would move onto the Web Resources page and use the videos for further explanation. The songs, visuals, and addition examples, are there to help my students gain a better grasp on the terms and definitions. Following the videos, I would group my students into 6 groups. Each group will receive an iPad and one part of the story (title, characters, setting, plot, problem, solution) to identify while listening to a story. In preparation of this lesson, I would log into TumbleBooks and select, He Came with the Couch, by David Slonim. Next, I would instruct the students to begin watching and listening to the online story. Following the story, time would be provided for each group to discuss the story and identify the part of the story they were assigned. My class has already been exposed to the video application on the iPad. Using this app each group would choose one person to be the camera man and the remaining group members would explain their part of the story by speaking to the camera (iPad). Lastly, as a class we would view each video, made by the students, to share their findings. Throughout this activity, my job would be to walk around from group to group answering and asking questions.
